    New Delhi: Steve Smith can play for Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket (MLC) after the 2024 T20 World Cup. He has agreed to a deal to become the brand ambassador for the franchise. Smith, who represents the New South Wales (NSW) State team in Australia, has a partnership with Washington Freedom in the MLC. Michael Klinger, the head of cricket, and Greg Shipperd, the head coach, play key roles in this partnership.

    Steve Smith turned 34

    There is a possibility of Steve Smith playing in the MLC. Smith turned 34 last month and spends most of his time in New York City. He had proposed to his wife, Dani, there in 2017. Prior to this, he had told the Sydney Morning Herald that he was considering playing in the MLC to end his career in the USA. Australia does not have any fixtures during the MLC’s July window next year. Their first scheduled tour is against Afghanistan in August, followed by the T20 World Cup in the United States in June.

    The first match will be played on Friday.

    Steve has a close relationship with New South Wales and the Sydney Sixers, according to Klinger, who spoke with ESPNCricinfo. He had five outstanding games in the last BBL, so it’s terrific to have him on board as a club ambassador. It will be interesting to interact with the excellent New South Wales players that we have. Players from NSW who will play for Freedom in the MLC’s debut season, which runs from July 13 to July 30, include Henriques, Ben Dwarshuis, Josh Philippe, and Tanveer Sangha. On Friday night in Dallas, Freedom will face the Seattle Orcas in their first MLC game.
