Taroba, August 4 (PTI): Tilak Verma never imagined that he would get the opportunity to represent India so soon in his career, but now that his dream has come true, his goal is to win the World Cup.

As part of the Under-19 World Cup team in 2020, the 20-year-old Verma made 39 runs off 22 balls in his first T20 match against West Indies.

In a video posted by the BCCI, Verma said, ‘Every cricketer’s dream is to play for the country. I never thought that I would get the chance to play for India so early in my career. After the Under-19 World Cup, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and I felt that whenever I get any opportunity, I should grab it and play.’

Having scored 343 runs for Mumbai Indians in the 2023 IPL, Verma expressed, ‘Since childhood, my dream has been to win the World Cup for India. I always keep thinking about how we can win the World Cup. I imagine myself going out to bat and winning the World Cup.’
