    Aditi became the world champion in compound archery at the age of 17

    Berlin/PTI. Aditi Swami, a 17-year-old from Satara, India, became the Senior World Champion in compound archery at the World Archery Championship held in Mexico. She achieved this feat in less than two months after winning the Junior World Title.

    In the final, Aditi faced tough competition from Mexico’s Andrea Becerra, but she managed to outperform her opponent by just two points, securing a total of 149 out of a possible 150 points. Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, Aditi defeated the current champion, Sara Lopez, adding another remarkable victory to her journey.

    Throughout the competition, Aditi demonstrated remarkable consistency, hitting the center in all three arrows in the opening round and maintaining her focus throughout. She replicated this performance in the next three rounds, securing a lead of three points.

    In the final round, Aditi hit a perfect 9, while her opponent could only manage a score of 10-10, resulting in a total of 149 points for Aditi and 147 points for Andrea. This victory marked Aditi’s second gold medal in the championship.

    In addition to her individual success, Aditi, along with her teammates Parnit Kaur and Jyoti Surekha Vennam, won the Compound Women’s Team Final, securing India’s first-ever gold medal in the World Archery Championship.

    Jyoti Surekha Vennam, despite losing to Aditi in the semi-finals, won the bronze medal by defeating Turkey’s Ipek Tomruk with a perfect score of 150. Jyoti now has an impressive collection of three gold, four silver, and three bronze medals in three World Archery Championship editions.

    Aditi’s exceptional performance and achievements at such a young age have made her a rising star in the world of archery, and she continues to inspire and make her country proud with her remarkable talent and dedication.
