Chennai, August 17 (UNI) – Chandrayaan 3, India’s mission to conquer the Moon, crossed another significant milestone on Thursday as the Vikram lander successfully separated from the propulsion module.
According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the lander rover will now proceed independently for the journey ahead, with a scheduled landing on the lunar south pole on the evening of August 23. All preparations for this phase have been completed. Successful completion of this stage, as per ISRO, indicates that all systems of Chandrayaan 3 are functioning correctly.
Chandrayaan 3 was launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
After landing on the lunar surface, the rover will be deployed from the lander and fulfill the mission objectives. If successful, this mission will make India the fourth nation to achieve this feat, after the United States, Russia, and China.

Over the past three weeks, Chandrayaan 3 has completed multiple stages and successfully entered different lunar orbits, culminating in this critical phase of the mission.
