Mexico, August 4 (AP) – In the state of Nayarit, on the Pacific coast, a bus traveling on a steep mountainous road veered off and plunged down a sharp slope, resulting in the death of at least 17 passengers. Mexican authorities have confirmed this information.
The State Public Safety Agency reported that rescue workers are currently making efforts to evacuate people from the bus. They stated that the number of fatalities is preliminary and may increase.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the agency informed that 22 passengers were injured in the accident.
The incident occurred near the capital city of Tepic in the state of Nayarit.
According to local media reports, the bus was en route from Mexico City to the border city of Tijuana.
